The Standard Hike
Don't be fooled by the use of the word "standard" as there is nothing standard about our hiking trips. Between the information you provide on our Intake Form, first impressions of the group upon meeting, the weather condtions of the day, and what's in season (plants and wildlife), we construct a customized experience in real time. Every group is different, so every hike should be as well. The Standard comes in two versions. Half-Days are up to to 5 hrs, while Full-Days are up to 9hrs.

Large Groups
Want to hike with more than 6 people? We'd love that! The thing is, we often bring on a second guide for groups of 7 or more. This ensures a quality interpretive expertience for all, and most importantly, group safety. Contact us to start the conversation about your larger than life group size.
Hybrid Tours
The Hybrid Tour is for those that want to take in Joshua Tree National Park within it's full context, which means a combination of driving and hiking. We'll cover all 4 of the unique biomes that make up the Park (Joshua Tree Woodland, Pinyon Juniper Scrub, Creotsote Scrub, and the famous geologic playgrounds of granitic rock). Hybrid Tours also come in Full and Half-Day forms. You'll also have the option to have us provide transportation
The Caravan Model

- You take your vehicle and we take ours
- You follow us throughout the elevations and ecosystems
- In between drives we'll discuss the environmental transitions, geologic history, and get up close and very personal with flora and fauna of the Mojave and Colorado Deserts
- The Full-Day version allows a driving to walking ratio that provides more time in the field, but not necessarily more stops along the way
- BE ADVISED: This outing only allows for one following vehicle, with a max capacity of 7
High Desert Hybrid + Transportation

- We pick you up and return you to your place of lodging in the High Desert (Morongo Valley, Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, 29 Palms)

Whether you've never been backpacking before and want to find out if it's for you or you're experienced but want a knowledgeable local guide to chart the route, handle logistics, and provide a seamless experience so all you need to do is show up and walk, then Wandering Mojave has your back. All skill levels are welcome and the philosophy that we apply to all our hikes still stands...the amount of time spent in the desert is more important than the miles hiked.
